Headed Home

We were there for a week, and had a really great time. But Ascher and I were anxious to go home and see daddy. He was such a great traveler! He had is Handy Manny bag that only he could carry, his new Donald Duck from Uncle Amy, and his motorcycle jacket. Everyone said he was sooo cute, did such a good job, and even had his photo taken a few times!

Uncle David's Cars

David loves cars. And he has some scale ones to prove it. So he decided to share his love with Ascher, and teach him the "good" cars. Surprisingly, we took this video in one shot. He picked the car names up really quick, and now looks through the magazines for the same cars!

You left the door open!

Once we dropped Steven off at the airport, Ascher bee-lined it right for his room! Now he had free range to play with anything....and he chose the Mickey hat. I guess he had already had enough of the cone!

Congrats Steven!!

Steven made Sargent!!! He gets the promotion in October, just before he deploys again! Unfortunately, that also means that he is re-enlisting for another 4 years. But I don't believe he has to go back to Iraq, so that's a good thing. He would just be working in Cali on tanks and other big army like machinery.

Yes I'm having fun!

Last time we where at the beach, we never actually made it to the beach. So Steven and I met at the beach! Ascher liked the water, until Uncle Steven scared him by thinking the water is going to actually get him. But we fixed the probelm and Ascher enjoyed sticking his feet in the water. He also collected lots of shells for his collection! The only problem was, he didn't want to leave. So he threw a fit....as you can tell from the picture. But we ended up getting him home and bathed, and he played with his shells during lunch!

Clap on!!

Yes, my father has a clap on light. Yes, Ascher really liked it. So my mom was showing him how she knocks on the headboard and the light goes off. Well, Ascher figured out a different way to get the light to work...........please see video and enjoy!

A Train!

For some reason, Ascher kept asking for a train while at grandma's house. We had no idea what he was talking about, and didn't know what to tell him. So he kept asking Uncle David for a train. Uncle David promised to take him to Wal-Mart and buy him one after dinner. Well, Ascher really didn't eat that night, and kept asking if it was time to go to Wal-Mart. So we dragged Uncle David to Wal-Mart for a train. Well, there was slim picking there, so Ascher picked to biggest and largest train set they had! So for the entire trip, Ascher kept asking if we could go home and play with his train.

Testing his ears

On our first day in NMB....we took Uncle Steven to Ripley's Aquarium. Steven got the great idea to stick Ascher's head in a 360 degree hole in the tank. Well, Ascher really didn't like the idea of actually being IN the fish tank, so he screamed his really high pitched scream and he quickly got out. From the outside, mom and I didn't hear it. But Steven dropped to the floor and cried about his ears hurting!
Veiwing from the outside is much better!

Playing at the Airport

We (Ascher and I) took another trip to the beach last week! Steven is being deployed again, so we went to say good-bye and have some family time together. Immer and I decided not to go for the 6 AM flight, but try a 7.45 instead for more sleep. Well, that didn't work too well. I showed up with a little more than 30 minutes before the flight was to leave, and they wouldn't let me on!! So I was bumped to a later flight, giving me way too much time on my hands with Ascher. Did you know they have a great children's area to play in! The flight lady told me about it, and Ascher had a great time!! Everything associated with the airport was there, in children's sizes! They had luggage carriers, airplanes, helicopters, watch tower! Ascher didn't know where to start! He had lots of fun, and really enjoyed himself. It was really hard to pull him away to get breakfast. Next time, I'm totally going early so we can enjoy this feature again!

Party at the Placaio

The day after the flood, we decided to party it up 14 stories above the city! We went to visit Tio Tim while he was in town from Mexico City. It was really great to see everyone, especially baby Matthew! We had a really great time seeing everyone, and hopefully we can do it again soon, and maybe next time in Mexico City!
While there, I VERY POLITELY asked my dear old Aunt Merf if she still had my GREEN bucket from G-gma's party. She yelled and screamed and told me I could never have it back because baby Nicholas loves to play with it. Well, that originally was Ascher's favorite bucket! He even wore it on his head and walked into cabinets!
check out "He's got Talent" and see the proof. That bucket was originally OURS!

Rain, Rain.....RAIN!!!

Recently, we have received a large amount of rain. Saturday morning, we received a panic phone call from Immer's mom. The water levels in the backyard were getting really high, and she was getting concerned. The water was also getting really high in the front yard, and covering the streets. So I called in to work, and we rushed down there to see exactly what was going on. This is what we found. The picture above is her backyard. Behind the trees is actually a 5 ft. fence, that is about 6 inches below water. Now, her backyard has a gradual slope to the fence, so the water is actually quite high. Luckily, nothing entered the garage, but it was really close. The photo below is the front of the house. She lives in the middle of a cul-de-sak....can't you tell? The water was about 3 feet high, and Immer's Durango and a firetruck were the only things that could make it through. When we finally tried to leave 8 hours later, Immer really had to push his truck and even shocked his car a little- but all is well now that it's dry. Luckily, the water never reached her house, but her neighbors all have basements and they were underwater. As of Sunday morning, the street was clear, and the water in the back was going down. On Monday, the water in the back was completely back to normal. We are very greatful that nothing got wet, and hope the neighbors don't have too much trouble cleaning up.

Magna Doodle

For his birthday, Ascher received a Magna Doodle. He really didn't so much interest in it, and always made Immer and I draw on it. After a while, we became pretty good at drawing trains, cars and concrete mixers. But then we turned the tables on him. We made him start drawing. And this is the ONLY thing he now draws. Sometimes it's a spoon, or balloon, a circle, or an oval. He does occasionally do lines and other random things, but this is the most popular. So look for it on our next mailing!

Museum visit

A few weekends ago, we took a trip to Milwaukee to visit a Children's Museum. It was hosting a Mr. Potato Head exhibit that was really interesting! But the really cool part was everything else. It had a mechanic's garage, bank, grocery store, post office and TV studio for children to play in. Ascher had a great time going to all the exhibits, but I think he was a little overwhelmed. There was so much to see and do that he just kept running from thing to thing. And it was pretty crowded.

Once we finished with the Museum, Immer suggested that since we were in Milwaukee, we should head to the zoo. So, we did. Now, I know that some of you are partial to Brookfield, and I agree, its a great zoo. But man, Milwaukee is AWESOME!! The animals were more visible, the
layout was much better, and had so much more things of everyone to do. We were standing at the tiger exhibit, and all the sudden, the tiger got up, walked to the window (locked eyes with Ascher was more like it), and roared really loudly right in Ascher's face. He didn't like that too much, but wanted the tiger to do it again! He had a similar encounter with the lion, and Ascher really freaked with that! And the jaguars were walking the window and kept Ascher really enthralled with everything! I know it's a far drive for some people, but I totally recommend going! It's only about an hour for us, so I will definitely be going back to that zoo!

Goodbye to Summer

Well, Labor Day has come and gone.....and we sent it off with a big bang! Our neighbor pulled out his smoker, another pulled out their pool, and we pulled out the sand! So we spent, literally, the last 90 degree day outside eating and playing. We had a lot of fun, and it was really enjoyable!
