Great Job!

Ascher was a really good boy on a recent adventure to Home Depot. He swept the floors, greeted customers, and charmed the ladies. So they decided to reward him with his own tool box! Immer and Ascher couldn't wait to put it together! Ascher glued, hammered and assembled the box with a little guidance from daddy. Once the toolbox was assembled, we let it dry for a few weeks (once the chaos of everything calmed down) and then painted it.

He chose all the colors himself! He did a really good job painting, and I was really impressed with everything he did! He kept all the colors together and didn't get paint all over the place! Once the paint dried, I put a few coats of clear paint on it to seal everything in. Now he can keep all kinds of things in there!

Walking Tall

Immer always said he married me because he wanted tall children. Does this mean he doesn't need me anymore?

Crazy Few Weeks

The past few weeks have been pretty crazy around here. Grema decided to come for a visit and make an appearance at Tim and Angela's shower. We had all kinds of fun stuff planned, like the zoo, and a visit with G-Gma. The we got word that Immer's Uncle in Florida had passed. So Immer took an emergency trip to Florida and would be returning on Monday. We still did the zoo...and the shower.....just brought Ascher along for the ride! We had a very successful cleaning at Grandma's house and a nice dinner at Sonic (around 9.30 at night!).

Sunday morning was nice and casual and cloudy. Dropped mom off with perfect timing just before the horrible downpour! It was around lunch time, so Ascher and I decided to head to Baja Fresh for tacos and quesadillas! It was so good, and I didn't want to leave. Maybe I should've stayed. Driving home, the rain picked up again, so I took backroads to stay safe. Well, that didn't pan out too well. On Northwest Highway (Rt. 14), I saw a metal thing in the road, and swerved to save my tires. Didn't really think about the rest of my car. The metal thing basically ripped the entire undercarriage of my car. It was so stressful, and it didn't help that Immer was in Florida.

In the end, AAA came out, towed the van to our mechanic, we made a claim with Allstate, and here I sit two weeks later with no car still. I caused over $2K in damage (busted an axle, tore the 4 AC lines out, and cracked the back bumper). Good thing I made a claim.....and we all got home safely!

The Milwaukee Zoo.....again

A picture is worth a thousand words.

Starting School

Ascher really likes learning. So I found some books that teach simple beginner lessons. Shapes, colors and letters. We've been practicing lately with page protectors and dry erase markers. Works like a charm! He's learned O's like a pro....and A's. We are still working on recognition with him. He likes to guess and not really pay attention. So we only do about 5 minutes at a time before it's time for something else. But we try to do it a few times a day. Practice makes perfect!

The Family that Paints Together

I've always hated our bathroom. The previous owners painted the walls a horrible hunter green, and put matching green tiles around the plastic tub surround. Last year, Immer went out of town for work, and I got the great idea to paint it! Well, the color I chose was almost as bad as the green! But there it stayed, for the longest time...taunting me everytime I was in there! So I finally pulled out the paint fans and just picked a color. AND I LOVE IT NOW! I still really want to demo the tub and put in tiles....but that can wait a little longer now!

Ascher was soooo persistent about painting. So I gave him the brush and sat and watched. He wouldn't let me help at all. I felt left out!! He did really good painting. He painted horses, cars, a road and a few other things on the walls. He almost did better than daddy (the job was rushed, and Immer is the type who just wants to get it done. So the Kiltz layer wasn't evenly applied.....). But the final result is awesome. With new towels and everything!

Keep it clean

A few weeks ago, we had a really successful Neighborhood Garage Sale. The second our neighbor pulled this out, Ascher was out and vacuuming the driveways. Well, it didn't sell in the sale (probably because everyone thought the toy belongs to some little boy). So, our neighbor gave it to him! Everytime I pull the vacuum out, Ascher is right behind me cleaning as well. He even "demanded" that his vacuum is in the closet with mine! Hopefully this trend never ends!

Ride 'em Ascher!

EVERYtime we talk about throwing this box away....Ascher suddenly decides to play with it and we keep it for a few more weeks. Its been a slide, road for cars, table, dancing....and now a bucking bronco!

I thought this was so funny that Ascher just up and started doing this with the box. I told Immer about it...and he laughed too. Ascher and Immer were apparently watching the rodeo on tv the day before. Guess he didn't think if it himself. Bummer.
