Growing Like a Weed!

Recently....

Boy oh boy. May is almost here. Things have been going for us. The first week of March, Immer had some trouble with his car. Turns out, it was the engine. Yeah, it died. Once week after the 3 year warranty expired! Since we had already replaced the engine once, we decided it wasn't worth the risk to do it again. It's too expensive to maintain the Durango, and way too expensive for a new engine. So Immer regretfully said his good-byes, and we sold it. Luckily for us, it went quickly. Immer really misses his Durango, but has come to realize how expensive it really was. So for now, he is driving my van. We've looked at other vehicles, but it's just not in the budget for now. Plus, there's not much out there that can hold a 6ft ladder and get great gas mileage! As for Ascher and I, we are officially stay at home bodies. We stay home and play all day, and run our errands when Immer gets home or on the weekends. It is a little tough, but you gotta do what you gotta do! His business is picking up, but there is always more work than money. It's harder this time around because there is a partner, sales tax to pay, and payroll. So its a learning process for everyone, but we are slowly getting the hang of it! Hopefully the summer will pick up and things will get easier!

As for me...well, I am guaranteed to be home Monday-Friday! There have been quiet a few changes at work as well. They closed the Walter E. Smithe location in Schaumburg that I work at. That was hard. I worked the store closing, then was unsure of what would happen next. Luckily, there was a position available for me on the Corporate level. It's definitely different than what I'm used to! Usually I would work in a store organizing everything, cleaning up, and auditing vendors fabrics and catalogues. Now, I answer phones and schedule deliveries, away from the stores. I do miss the stores, and hopefully one day I will be back. But for now, the new position is different, and hopefully will grow on me!

And for Ascherman. Boy, is he a handful! He's getting to the point of not wanting to take a nap..but still really needs one or he is not fun! So we are trying to work the kinks out of this little problem. He's still really into his tag books too! His first pen is already full! I'm not sure if we should get another one, or just change out books. He's also into learning more lately. Again, not about normal things. More like, volcanoes, planets(he is very persistent that he can find the planet Earth in the sky!) and worms. It's interesting to hear his questions and really try to answer them. We are working on his temper, and trying to work nicely with others. Sometimes he does really good...and other days it just isn't working. He really has a hard time controlling his emotions. He will just let out yells and screams and throw his toys when he gets frustrated. So we are trying more quiet times, time outs and relaxing. Hopefully with summer eventually coming here, he will have more time outside to release his energy and work through this on his own!

Easter Weekend

Uuuggg....I can't believe Easter has come and gone so quickly. Time is just flying by! We had a nice and relaxing Easter weekend. Luckily for me, I had both days off! So I spent most of my time making, baking and decorating Lamb cakes! As for Ascher, he got a wonderful surprise from the Easter bunny! Lets see...there was a net for bugs (cause our house is full of them thanks to the nice warm weather), a toy airplane, "Fly High, Fly Guy" tag book, and window markers! They are so much fun!

Just like every year, we go to G-gma's for a wonderful Easter lunch. Ascher loves playing with his cousins! This year, he actually participated in the egg hunt instead of us handing them to him!

Here are all the great grand-babies! I'm sure out of the 100+ photos taken of this pose, someone got a good one. If you did, pass it along! It's never easy to get a bunch of sugar high kids to cooperate!

And the creativity keeps growing!

Ascher, as I'm sure with every other child in the world, goes through phases. And recently, it's been play-dough. He's really gotten into playing with it, creating different shapes and figures. Like in the photo above, he made a pancake with butter and blueberries!(don't worry, it's been dried and will be saved forever!)

Here, he made a banana. I guess he was paying attention when I was making Amber's birthday cake!

We've been working on letters for a while now. He's gotten really good and recognizing the uppercase letters. Here, he is showing all the letters he knows how to write! He has a hard time with M,W,K, and G. We are working on them though...and then on to the lowercase!

Here's another play-dough creation! He made papa's garden! It was really cute, but he had a hard time getting things to stand up. He got a little frustrated and destroyed his creation shortly after this!

A MANS kitchen

Ascher loves his kitchen. He's always in there working on new dishes, and playing server with his creations. I just find it funny that it's also pretty manly. He has screws in the sink, and occasionally cars and tools in the fridge and oven! And there is always food and dishes left out on the counter!

We miss the Olympics

Just like in '08....we were addicted to the Olympics. We usually don't allow Ascher to watch TV, but there is just something about the whole Team Spirit and competitiveness that is really exciting and fun to watch. Plus, Ascher really got to see different sports that are not normally on TV! Here he is, playing hockey. Yes, it's something you can watch during the season anyway, but I think he got the hang of it! He built his own hockey stick and used a tire for a puck. I thought it was pretty creative! He even got Immer into playing with him!

Ascher really got into watching skating and skiing. Here he is, running around the kitchen pretending to be skiing. He really loved watching the ski jumping and snowboarding. He also liked to watch the figure skating. He would dance around the kitchen, saying he was skating. Ascher even wanted to get his neighbor Leah involved to "skate" with him! It's fun to expose him to different sports!

Shortly after the Olympics ended, we went to lunch with Uncle Heidi. She had just finished learning to ski, and asked Ascher if she could teach him to ski. He politely said...and I quote..."No thank you. But would you like to go bobsledding with me?"
